Tattooing has become a common practise in recent times. With the evolution of science and technology, it has become much easier to tattoo someone without causing them much pain. But can a person with a permanent tattoo donate blood? What has caused people to tattoo themselves? What’s the origin of tattooing art? All these questions are well answered in the following blog post.
TATTOO
Tattoo may be an image or a word or a character which people want to apply on their skin surface. The practise of Tattooing has not originated from a single place. Several Tribal people around the globe has been practising this culture for a very long time. Even some of the Mummies from the ancient Egypt had tattoos on them. This is not a great surprise as we already know their interest in writing and engraving their symbols in walls, pyramids etc. People from Japan, African forest, and other tribal civilizations practised this for a very long time. According to historians, the people tattoo themselves in their face or body for religious purposes, that is to show their relationship with the God. Also, the tribal people considered it as one’s representation of strength. But the main incident behind the spread of the tattooing culture is the excavation of Otzi the iceman from a mountain border between Austria and Italy in 1991. The corpse was more than 5300 years old, well preserved in ice and it had tattoos. Also, in ancient times, prisoners were indicated with the help of tattoos.
WHY DO PEOPLE MARK THEMSELVES WITH TATTOOS?
There are several reasons why people prefer to mark themselves with tattoo. Some are described below.
PROCESS OF TATTOOING
Tattoos are classified as Temporary and Permanent tattoos. Temporary tattoos are simple and are only chosen by the kids. But the main discussion is about the permanent one.
Tattooing is done with the help of sterilized needles in present time. They also use ink for adding colour to the tattoo. The ink is placed beneath the skin layer with the help of needle. The Permanent tattoo will be quite painful. The ink remains in the skin layer for several years.
RISKS
The Needles used here should be sterilized. If the needle is not sterilized properly, it will easily infect your skin with harmful and deadly microorganisms. Also, minor rashes around the tattooed skin have been reported in several cases.
The ink used for tattooing contains several chemical compounds (Chromium, Titanium dioxide,etc.). The Chemical compound is responsible for the respective colour of the ink. After the tattooing process, the ink compound breaks into several small nano-particles and are dispensed in blood. But thanks to the human immune system, the chemical compounds are safely treated by the immune system and are eliminated from the body.
BLOOD DONATION AFTER TATTOOING

In some states, people can donate blood after 6 months or 3 months or some months (according to the state’s legislature) from marking a permanent Tattoo.
