COVID-19 is considered to be one of the most dangerous pandemics. The Corona virus which causes COVID-19 was originated in Wuhan, China And carried to many other places around the world. The wave started in 2019 and is becoming very severe in 2020. It is spreading like a wildfire across several nations and the infection rate is still rising. This disease outbreak has caused several effects in the lives of people. Also, people are becoming aware of their daily activities like consuming foods with high vitamin and mineral contents, washing hands daily, wearing face masks etc. This post briefly describes about the various methods to keep ourselves away from several diseases including COVID-19.

Methods to prevent Coronavirus:
As the exact effective medicine for treating COVID-19 is not found yet, we must act accordingly to the famous ancient proverb, “Prevention is better than cure”. The disease took and still continues to take many people’s life mercilessly. It is necessary to be aware of corona virus.
We all must be educated about preventive measures for keeping Corona virus away. Some of the preventive measures are
- Wearing facemasks
- Avoiding group formation with people (Social-distancing)
- Quarantining in home
- Avoiding unnecessary fears
- Keeping yourself neat and clean
- Washing your hands frequently with soaps and sanitizers
- Avoiding liquor drinking and smoking
- Increasing your immunity power by taking vegetables, healthy fruits etc...
Why should we wear face mask?
Wearing face mask is really helpful as they capture or block the water droplets coming out from one’s mouth. Also. It blocks the entry of water droplets from entering your nostrils. You won’t touch your mouth and nose unnecessarily with your hands when you wear a mask. Why should we avoid travelling in crowded areas?
Grouping is good news for Corona virus as the virus can easily spread and infect every person if a single person in the group was infected. It forms series of infection-chain. So, avoid unnecessary travels. Only travel in case of urgencies. Take hand-sanitizers and wear face masks when you go out. Social distancing is always the better choice when you travel.
Why should we quarantine ourselves?
Quarantine is the best self-defense against corona. It is hard to find the persons who are infected by corona virus. If happened to go outside, you may come in contact with some infected objects or persons which increases the probability of infection. So, it is better to stay at home.

Why shouldn’t we shake hands with others?
Shaking-hands is the modern conventional method followed by us for welcoming or greeting others. But realizing the possibility of virus transmission, we should follow an alternative method for greeting others. We can greet others by joining our hands instead of shaking others hands. Why should we wash our hands frequently?
The virus can be transferred from one to another easily. One of the main sources of virus transmission is hands, as it acts as a mediator between the virus and us. The virus enters our body when we touch some objects or infected peoples. Soaps and Sanitizers have the power to remove the virus and bacteria in our hands. And the possibility of getting infected reduces significantly. Thus, try to keep your hand clean frequently after coming back to your home. Soaps are far better than hand-sanitizers. So, it is better to use soaps to wash our hands rather than using hand-sanitizers. Hand sanitizers are useful at places where water is not available instantly like work places. Care should be taken while handling hand-sanitizers as they are easily flammable (as it contains at least 60% alcohol).

Why should we avoid drinking and smoking?
Consumption of alcohol gradually reduces our immunity power. Due to this, our immune system finds it difficult to fight with corona virus. With reduced immunity, virus easily enters our body cells and starts to infect us. The virus targets our throat and lungs to infect them. Smoking damages our lungs and it will provide an easy path for the virus to kill us.
Why should we increase our immunity?
As per studies, it is found that corona virus leaves people with high immunity power without showing its symptoms. That is, the defense system of their body seems to be so powerful than the virus attack. So, it is important to take care of your health by adding proteins in your food and by avoiding junk foods.
IMMUNITY
Immunity is the defense mechanism of our body. It is provided by various immune cells and organs like White Blood Cells, Lymph nodes, Spleen, Thymus, T lymphocytes, antibodies and much more. All these cells and organs combine to form the Immune system of our body. So, to increase the immunity of our body, the immune system should work properly. We may think that fever, running nose, cough, sneeze as various diseases. But the truth is they are not diseases. They are just symptoms to show that our body’s immune system is fighting with some foreign invader which successfully dodged our physical barriers and entered within our cells. Here's a list of few great immune responses by our body.
- Fever – Fever is the rise in body temperature which is our body’s response to slow down the disease-causing microorganism and to speed up the functions of our body.
- Running Nose – It is a trap which captures the flu and prevents their entry into our body and tosses them out.
- Cough – An act of elimination of microorganism or other foreign particles present in our throat with the help of air from the lungs.
- Sneeze - An act of elimination of microorganism or other foreign particles present in our nostrils.
We cannot predict the disease by knowing a symptom as several diseases can have some common symptoms. And that’s why it is better to consult a doctor in case of any occurrence of symptoms.
How can we increase our immunity?
Healthy diet:
There are no exact scientific evidences for increase in immunity after food consumption. But our diet influences our body’s health and thus it is efficient for an individual to monitor his diet.
Here are some foods which can contribute for better health
- Green foods such as spinach, lettuce – Vitamins A & C, Vitamin C is one of the most important antioxidants and also keeps our immune system healthy.
- Almonds and nuts – healthy fats, fiber, Vitamin E – Reduces blood sugar level, blood pressure level and cholesterol.
- Fruits such as Apple, Orange, Grapes, Amla, Lemon etc. – Rich source of vitamin C, easily digested
- Vegetables like garlic and ginger
- Red bell peppers.
Healthy Lifestyle
- Exercise regularly – Exercise has no direct impact on our immune system. But exercising regularly will ensure good flow of blood which subsequently ensures the efficient transportation of the immune cells to all parts of our body.
- Also, lead a stress-free life. Don’t have any negative feelings and negative thoughts.

Leading a healthy lifestyle will keep us away from any sort of viruses. So, we should follow proper practices to prevent us from deadly infections and to improve our immunity.
