I am sure that this generation is pretty much crazy over the term ‘FOODIE’. Foodie is a term which denotes a person who has a refined interest in food and eats food not only out of hunger but due to their interest and hobby. But not everyone is aware of another hidden term associated with it. That is ‘Diabetes’.
Generally, diabetes is considered as a disease when the blood glucose (blood sugar) level is very high. It is said that the body doesn’t produce enough insulin due to the presence of high sugar in the blood.
Diabetes is mainly classified as Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Leaving the genetical factor aside, the primary risk factor for this disease is Over eating. Diabetes is not due to overeating of sugar. It is just because of overeating of food which contains glucose in it.
Being overweight doesn’t mean that you’ve diabetes since most of people with type 2 diabetes are at normal weight or only slightly overweight. But it is a risk factor. Diabetes must be treated immediately as it increases the chance of heart attack by 50%

SYMPTOMS
- Excessive thirst and hunger
- Frequent urination
- Weight loss or gain
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Dry mouth and itchy skin (frequent yeast infection occurs in type 2 diabetes)
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
Diabetes has no direct cure but still we can control it by following some lifestyle changes which include
- Reducing junk foods
- Taking whole grain, fibres and reducing sugar beverages
- Maintaining a normal body weight
- Involving in Physical activity
Thus, we should follow a good lifestyle by taking healthy foods which nourishes us.
